We stand on this land that has been our home since time immemorial, a place where our ancestors walked, traded, and built connections with people from far and wide. Our ceremonies and spiritual ways are deeply intertwined with Indigenous peoples across the globe, reflecting our shared beliefs and values and indicating unity throughout humanity. We all came from the same place, what happens to one of us happens to all of us.
Our leadership is rooted in the strength of our ancestors, who signed Treaty 4 and Treaty 6. They were facing a very different future than their ancestors, they were hoping to secure a future for their children in the new world. We acknowledge the hardships our people have faced, yet we recognize the resilience that we needed to survive. Today, we grow stronger, adapting to the world around us while remaining true to our connection to this land and our traditions.
As we look across this country, we see our relatives carrying the responsibility to protect all living beings. We are called to ensure that the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the soil that sustains us remain pure and life-giving.
